It has been nearly a decade since Microsoft launched the now-ubiquitous Office 365 solution. Now, there’s another landmark evolution to share in the world of Microsoft subscription services.
Microsoft has announced that it will be rebranding its Office 365 SMB business plans as “Microsoft 365.” The name change, designed to reflect the range of features and benefits in the subscription, will have no impact on price or feature changes. It will be the same plan, but with an updated name. Microsoft Teams will continue to be included, providing remote working capabilities that are especially important in today’s environment.
In response to the name change, Ingram Micro—the largest Microsoft indirect provider globally—will celebrate the occasion with an announcement of its own: two new promotions to help partners truly capitalise on the power of the Microsoft 365 suite.
Office 365 will be called Microsoft 365
Before we get into the details of our incentives, let’s look at what the rebranding means for Microsoft Office 365. The name change, which goes into effect on April 21, will make it easier for customers to pick the right Office 365 SMB SKU for their needs.
It’s important to note that there will be no price changes, feature changes or business model changes associated with the Office 365 name change. There are no naming changes for the Office 365 Enterprise SKUs or the Microsoft 365 Enterprise SKUs.
Partners who are currently purchasing Office 365 through Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace will see the name of their subscription update to the new name across Microsoft’s Admin Portal and their monthly billing subscription. No action is needed from our partners or their customers.
- Office 365 Business Essentials (GBP £3.77/u/m) will become Microsoft 365 Business Basic
- Office 365 Business Premium (GBP £9.43/u/m) will become Microsoft 365 Business Standard
- Microsoft 365 Business (GBP £15.08/u/m) will become Microsoft 365 Business Premium
In addition, “Microsoft 365 Apps” will be adopted as the new name for two Office client subscription products:
- Office 365 Business (GBP £7.90/u/m) will become Microsoft 365 Apps for business
- Office 365 ProPlus (GBP £11.49/u/m) will become Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
