As you may have heard there are some changes coming to Dynamics 365 Talent, you may have seen this is becoming Dynamics 365 Human Resources as of February 3rd, 2020, but what you may not know, and may not have seen, is this is so much more than just a name change!!
Currently Dynamics 365 Talent has 3 main functions, Attract, Onboard and then the Core Human Resources. Well as for the Attract and Onboard applications, as of February 1st, 2022 these applications will be retiring. Only eligible customers will be able to use Attract and Onboard up until February 1st, 2022, only it will only be the eligible customers able to renew their contract for these applications up until June 6th, 2020.
“But what’s an ‘eligible customers’?”
Eligible customers are those who have purchased or renewed Dynamics 365 talent, Dynamics 365 Unified Operations Plan or Dynamics 365 Plan prior to February 3rd, 2020. There is also an opt-in process for those customers who intend to implement the Attract or Onboard applications. Customers have until February 3rd, 2020 in order to get that opt-in process completed to Microsoft.
There will be no new features coming to Attract or Onboard, but Microsoft will be providing bug support until February 1st, 2022. The good news is that there will be a lot of investments made into Dynamics 365 Human Resources.
“What investments exactly?”
Well Microsoft’s priorities around Dynamics 365 Human Resource is to transform employee experience, optimise HR programs and Improve organisational agility. You can view more information for the release wave HERE.
“What if I’m already using Talent?”
If you’re already using Talent then great!! There is no migration required, and most importantly no disruption of service!! The core HR capabilities within Dynamics 365 Talent will be released as Dynamics 365 Human resources on February 3rd, 2020.
“Does that mean I won’t have to pay for the Attract and Onboard Applications?”
No, you’ll still be paying for Attract and Onboard as these applications will be supported by Microsoft and still available to use until February 3rd, 2022. All contracts will remain in place until renewal or expiration.
“So, what do I get ‘out of the box’ with Dynamics 365 Human Resources?”
With Dynamics 365 Human Resources you get everything you need when it comes to:
- Organisational management – Orgs charts, jobs & positions, employee profiles, personnel management, task management, business process & compliance

“Does this mean more licensing changes?”
It does indeed!! But let me try and simplify it for you with a diagram to start focussing on the Unified Operations side of Dynamics including Finance, Supply Chain Management, Retail and now HUMAN RESOURCES!!
“How do I get support from Microsoft?”
Microsoft have created an email address for questions, you can email TalentAppsEOS@Microsoft.com should you have any questions and require any further support, and you can’t find the answer at Partner.Microsoft.com
“What to do next?”
Well, there are a number of things you can do to ensure a smooth transition, more so if you’re using the Attract on Onboard applications. If you’re currently using Attract, then look into the LinkedIn Talent Hub, a new Application Tracking System, a brilliant system to really help you manage the full hiring process. Any data you have in Attract or Onboard you will need to export by February 1st, 2022, so you have some time, DON’T PANIC!! You’ll also be able to use data export tools that will be provided by Microsoft to export data from the Onboard application. The best thing you can do if you are using Attract and Onboard is get in touch is plan. Plan for a smooth transition. But remember, if you’re only using the Core Human Resources capabilities within Dynamics 365 Talent, you can continue as normal!!
