Far from a localized or U.S.-based affair, Ingram Micro’s annual Cloud Summit drew attendees from around the world. At this year’s show, a huge contingent of Brazil-based attendees wore matching jackets and were highly visible throughout the event. Other attendees hailed from Canada, Asia and seemingly everywhere in between.
One attendee in particular, Samjad Mooppan, represented the breadth of this year’s show. Based in Ernakulam, Kerala, India, Mooppan is a cloud consultant and solution architect who falls into both the managed service provider (MSP) and ISV camp. He’s both the head of sales and marketing as well as the CEO of Supportlobby, which provides outsourced Linux and Windows server management, cloud consultancy, DevOps support and enterprise application support.
He’s also the co-founder of SpiralDesk, a cloud-based customer support platform that can eliminate the need to use more than one helpdesk. Supportlobby has been around for the past 12 years and is partnered with Ingram Micro in the META region (Middle East, Turkey and Africa).
A Conference that Stands Out
Mooppan travels to different cloud conferences to meet customers face to face and discover new opportunities for business. Cloud Summit X was his first time attending one of Ingram Micro’s cloud events.

He cited the show’s dual focus on technology and business as a reason for its success. He said that while the crowd might not be quite as large as at some shows, the other side of the coin is that people are particularly welcoming at the Ingram Micro show.
“People from Ingram Micro are really enthusiastic about introducing themselves, asking what you do,” he said. “That’s something you won’t find at other conferences. The quality of conversations that are happening, that’s really wonderful.”
Mooppan cited sessions with IBM and the Get Connected event as particularly interesting. “From an ISV point of view, I could see how much effort had been put into Connect as a whole,” he said. “It’s enabled an ISV like me to be on the larger platform.”
Cloud Summit 2020 in Miami
Based on his experience, Mooppan said he would recommend Cloud Summit to others and plans to return next year. He only wishes local customers realized this was an open event.
Overall, he was very happy with the event, saying he could see all the effort being put in behind the scenes and lauded Ingram Micro for the passion they put into enabling ISVs such as SpiralDesk. He noted, “It’s not only the platform itself but the people behind the platform that I like.”
