“Infinite” is a ubiquitous theme in our industry, as I stated in my last blog, and it was an appropriate one for this year’s Ingram Micro Cloud Summit, where our executive team, engineers, marketing gurus and influential industry icons alike reminded us of the infinite opportunities to take advantage of the $200 billion cloud market.

For many of our partners, cloud is increasingly essential to their businesses, yet they still haven’t taken full advantage of growing their cloud footprint to meet the needs of their customers.

Here’s what I told Cloud Summit attendees and now I’m telling you: Don’t wait. Now’s the time to invest the resources to grow and scale your success.

Ingram Micro Cloud has introduced the Ingram Micro Cloud Awesomeness Roadmap to help partners drive toward success on their cloud journey. Along this road are four stops: Build, Breadth, Depth and Scale.

Partners at the Build stage are just getting started, typically offering up to three cloud solutions, provisioning manually, and not actively or effectively marketing their offerings. Today, 60% of our partners are parked in the Build stage.

A little further along are the Breadth (30%) and Depth (9%) partners, who offer more cloud solutions, focus on cross-selling and are starting to incorporate digital marketing and automated provisioning techniques that lower the cost of sales and boost recurring revenue.

At the other end of the road are the Scale partners, the master cross-sellers who offer 10 or more cloud solutions, including infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and vertical solutions. They serve as end-to-end providers for their customers, employ automation and have mastered integrated digital marketing. They are all about delivering a digital experience to their customers. Only 1% of our partners have reached this stage.

So where on the road are you? It’s worth your while to make an honest assessment and quicken your pace if you’re moving too slowly. Consider this: On average, our Scale partners are seeing 40% more pipeline than the others.

You might hear advice from the well-intentioned to not worry about where you are with your cloud business because cloud is a journey. But that’s bad advice. You should be concerned and focus that concern on reaching the next level of cloud awesomeness. As I told you at Cloud Summit, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
