Ingram Micro Cloud Summit provides reseller partners with great opportunities for networking and professional enrichment, gaining new skills, and getting hands-on with new technologies. But let’s be honest: Two of the best parts of any conference are the food and entertainment, and neither were in short supply at Cloud Summit 2018.

If you were able to join us, you know it was a fun, fast-paced and information-packed two days in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida. If you missed the event, let me share some of the highlights with you.

The important stuff first

With all the networking and learning, we built up quite an appetite, and fortunately the fare at Cloud Summit was delicious and plentiful. Let me tell you about some of my favorites. The opening night feast offered three types (who knew?) of paella. Breakfast included cheesy hash browns (seconds, please), waffles and French toast. During our Solutions Showcase, we served up a mac and cheese bar for the evening meal. On the final day, there were fresh tuna burgers and prepared-to-order salads for lunch, followed by steak and garden-fresh gazpacho at the closing night beach party. Delicious fare fueled every conference-goer.

A super fun 80s band played the entire evening of the beach party, tempting Ingram Micro’s execs Renee Bergeron, David Wippich, Adam Christensen and Richard Dufty up on the stage to dance and sing along. There’s a video out there somewhere…

The large neon Jenga and neon bean bag and ring toss were nice touches for those of us with two left feet.

But seriously, folks

We did more than eat and dance our way through Cloud Summit. Reseller partners use this event to learn about new technology and techniques they can incorporate into their businesses. We hosted dozens of breakout sessions where partners could get an insider’s look at new technology, learn strategies and tricks for growing their business, and get hands-on in labs featuring IaaS platforms Azure and AWS, and more.

The resellers I talked with really enjoyed Nir Gaist’s keynote session, Security is Easy. Gaist is the cybersecurity visionary and CEO of Nyotron. His live threat and security demo panned out over three separate monitor screens, and demonstrated how hackers can easily take over a website. He also discussed ways to identify the threat and secure the environment.

Michelle Bailey of IDC gave a general session keynote that provided prescriptive guidance on how digital transformation will impact our partners’ businesses, all backed by her research data. She shared a great deal of new and provocative information that resellers I spoke to really appreciated.

Several of the breakout sessions were standing room only, prompting us to include more of these popular sessions at next year’s Summit. Among the most popular were:

  • Easy Azure for the Masses
  • Cybersecurity, The Opportunities and the Threats
  • Techniques of Highly Effective Sales Managers for Record-Breaking Cloud Revenues
  • Accelerating Your Digital Transformation Journey
  • Cloud Assessment Deep Dive
  • HPE and Microsoft: Future-Proof Your Data Center with HPE & Azure Stack Hybrid Cloud

Cloud Awesomeness

Renée Bergeron’s Cloud Summit keynote continues to generate a lot of buzz. She coined the concept of the Cloud Awesomeness Roadmap, explaining how most of our partners start and are still in the Build stage with manual provisioning, selling one to three cloud offerings, but then stopping there.

Partners who leverage the go-to-market strategies, automated provisioning, cross-sales opportunities and comprehensive e-commerce platform offered by Ingram Micro Cloud move along the road to ultimately become a Scale partner, selling 10 or more cloud offerings—plus IaaS to their customers—and generating up to 40% more revenue than other partners.

We’ll be working throughout the year to come up with creative, compelling ways to make next year’s Cloud Summit even better. Thanks to those of you who joined us; we hope to meet even more of our reseller partners at the next event.
