Now that Cloud Summit X has officially ended, I’d like to thank each and every one of you who came out to beautiful San Diego to attend our special 10th anniversary event. While it began with a few showers, it ended spectacularly with fantastic food, music and fireworks.

10 years of thought leadership

Over the last three days, we celebrated a decade of thought leadership in areas like the ecosystem of everything, the platform economy, flows not transactions, everything as a service (XaaS), the hyperscale platform and the digitization of IP.

Fun fact: I ran the numbers and found that Ingram Micro employees worked three million hours over the last year—all to make sure you have the biggest and best commerce platform available, now and in the future. Pretty incredible.

Achieving a 360-degree view of our own business made it possible for us to pre-emptively spot the potential of the technologies and trends I just mentioned, resulting in many of the remarkable successes we’ve seen. These achievements are also a result of our winning partnerships; we couldn’t have come this far without our vendor and reseller relationships.

The power of partnerships

During my keynote, I talked about why it’s essential for you to have the right partners. Remember, it’s not enough to have a lot of partners—it’s about having first-rate, trusted partners. Building strong partnerships is an important step in how Ingram Micro can help you gain a 360-degree view of what’s going on in and around your business. And it’s one of the things we do best.

We start by helping you evaluate which business model is right for you. From there, we recommend the right solutions to match your business objectives. And identify and introduce you to the right strategic partners who can help you achieve sustainable growth. But we don’t stop there.

Gain your own 360-degree view

If you’re going to succeed in today’s business world, you need to look at situations and events from every angle. At Ingram Micro, we make it possible for you to see everything that’s happening around you that can potentially affect your business.

By partnering with us and starting your own 360-degree revolution, you’ll gain the power to integrate and analyze your business environment from every perspective before you make critical decisions. This can help ensure your company’s long-term success despite the many twists and turns the industry takes.

A commitment to discover the best

At Ingram Micro, we’re dedicated to finding, supporting and building the most advanced cloud and digital solutions on the market. Ten months ago, we took it a step further and introduced the Comet Competition, an exciting initiative that seeks out, identifies and brings to market the world’s most innovative yet little-known technologies.

At Cloud Summit X, we announced the top three winners from the first competition. But during my keynote, I wanted to shine a light on a few of the other finalists who came up with life-changing solutions that are sure to make the world a better place:

  • EyeControl is giving a voice back to people with ALS and other chronic diseases who have lost the ability to speak.
  • re:3D is using reclaimed plastic waste to reduce 3D printing costs while creating an abundance of new jobs.
  • Sempulse is creating a non-invasive sensor that attaches to the back of a person’s ear and monitors their five vital signs.

The Comet Competition will continue the search for deserving startups. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to see the innovations that will result from the next round of winners. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements on where Comet is heading next.

It just gets better from here

While Cloud Summit X is over, the tremendous preparation, commitment and focus that goes into creating success—not just for this event, but for our entire global ecosystem—will continue.

I hope you enjoyed your time in San Diego and gleaned some valuable insights to take forward into 2019. Next year, I’ll see you in Miami at Cloud Summit 2020.
